The Grover and Sara McKenzie Family Foundation, Inc.’s ongoing partnership with Ancil George and the Penn Libraries goes back to 2014 when the Foundation provided a grant that funded an Apple iPad. This enabled greater mobility in the delivery of educational services to Philadelphia Public School District students, parents and staff.
Mr. Ancil George’s work at the University of Pennsylvania includes analyzing existing outreach programs and services that meet the needs of specific communities, designing projects to improve their accessibility and impact, developing instructional and promotional materials and training librarians who interact with external groups and work directly with target communities. One of his specifically targeted communities is Philadelphia Public Schools including the Henry C. Lea School (Pre-K to 8th Grade) and West Philadelphia High School.
